Be Good Shepherd Like Christ, Cleric Urges Leaders

The Vicar, St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Ogbete, Coal Camp Enugu, Venerable Kenneth Ugwuagu has urged Nigerian leaders to be good shepherd like Christ towards the people.

Ven. Ugwuagu made the call when he spoke as a special guest at St Paul’s Chapel, Bishop’s Court, Enugu on Sunday in Enugu with the theme “Christ the good shepherd” taken from John 10:11.

The cleric said that the good shepherd lays down his life for the sake of his sheep and as such, leaders should emulate him by rendering selfless services to their followers.

He explained that Christ is the good shepherd not a good shepherd. The definite article “the good” shows the exclusiveness of the title.

“Only Him laid down his life for us not to die. Psalm 23 pictures it correctly. The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.

“So long as I remain in his flock, I lack nothing. Physically and spirituality, emotionally, economically, health wise I lack nothing.

“My specific message to Nigeria today is that if we enthrone Jesus in our lives and nation today, he will fix our mess, trouble and lift us from the global poverty capital, to a global wealth base,” he said.

He added that Christ would also help Nigerians to stop the bandits, terrorists and kidnappers, stressing that we need a good shepherd.

“Men who know Him, who have surrendered to Him, love Him, and live like Him, can be used by Christ to fix our land, fix our homes and give us a better future,” he stated.
