May 29: NUJ Urges Peaceful Transition In Enugu

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Enugu Chapter, has urged for peaceful transition from the outgoing administration to the incoming government in Enugu State.
The Union made the call in a communique issued at the end of its congress held at Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi Press Centre on Friday in Enugu.
The union called on the State Government to ensure peaceful transition before, during and after the hand over of baton to the incoming government.

The Council also urged the National Secretariat of NUJ to further strengthen efforts to ensure full remittance of check-off dues deducted from members of the Union in government media houses by the Radio, Television, Theatre and Arts Workers’ Union of Nigeria (RATTAWU) to NUJ coffer.
The media houses are Nigeria Television Authority (NTA), Federal Radio Corporation ofNigeria (FRCN), and News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
The Council while appreciating the Enugu State Government for the cordial relationship that exists between them and the union, called on the incoming administration to extend the same hands of fellowship to the Union.
“We appeal to the incoming administration in the state to consider NUJ members for appointment into offices for them to contribute their quota to the development of the state,” the union said. (NAN)
