Awka, – Chief Anthony Nchekwube, an All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) chairmanship aspirant in Anambra, has promised to consolidate the position of the party as the most preferred brand in the state, if elected.

Nchekwube, in a Statement in Awka on Sunday, said his administration would build greater trust among party faithful and run an all-inclusive system in line with APGA’s mantra of being ‘ones’ brothers’ and sister’s keeper.

APGA State Congresses would hold May 23, Ward and Local Government on May 17, May 20, respectively, while the national convention would hold on May 31.

He said he was a strong believer in the power of unity and team play as conditions for greatness of a party and promised to make it a priority when he becomes chairman of APGA in Anambra.

“I am dedicated to building on our party successes and expanding our prominence in Anambra.

“I am committed to working tirelessly to advance our spread in Anambra and consolidate the victories we have achieved so far.

“I shall ensure that we continue to be our brothers’ and sisters’ keepers,” he said.

Dunga, as he is popularly known, said he had capacity to strengthen the bond within APGA and also convert members of other political parties in Anambra to the party.

He said APGA, as a political movement, had a proud history of implementing progressive policies, standing up for what is right and delivering quality governance in Anambra for 17 uninterrupted years.

According to him, “I am passionate about serving our great party. I have a track record of working to make positive impacts on matters of the party.

“As a die-hard member of APGA, I will continue the party’s legacies and give rapt attention to issues that matter most to our teeming party faithful.

“I am not desperate to become the state chairman of the party, but I am desperate to see the growth and firm grip of the party at the grassroots,” he said.

Nchekwube thanked the hierarchy of the party and numerous stakeholders for the endorsement he had enjoyed from them while assuring that he would not let them down for having implicit confidence in him.

According to him, “I am grateful for the support that I have received from stakeholders and fellow party members so far, it has been so amazing.

“Together we can build a stronger, more disciplined, all-inclusive, and more equitable future for all members of our party.

“I call on APGA members and indeed my dear Anambra people to continue to remember the party in our private prayers,” he said.

Nchekwube, 42, has been a member of APGA for 19 years and has held leadership positions, including Secretary of Amansea Ward, Publicity Secretary of Awka North LGA, and currently, Auditor General of Anambra chapter for seven years. (NAN)
